News, Well kinda........

I think I know what happened to my hood and I wanted to share this with anyone who plays on a laptop. When I shut down my game, it's usually because I'm going to bed or about to leave or something. So I always shut my laptop lid once I shut down the sims. I think I put my laptop in sleep mode before the game had completely shut down. Usually when I see my desktop I figure it's done saving the information but apparently that is not the case. So the files didn't save completely which is why it's not as big as it should have been. I apparently did this more than once which is why my back up and the one that was on my laptop were different sizes....it was a long time coming. So now I make sure that the game has completely finished shutting down before I put it in sleep mode......I check my facebook or do something to give it time to do what it has to do...........this means boo for Crystal Bay as that ship has sailed but at least I know what caused it.......on a happier note, LaQuest Beach is coming along wonderfully and I think I've over done it but I don't care! I used a medium size terrain so I actually have a housing area and a downtown area on the map with no need to use the sub-hoods. I won't have the Count or Countess since I'm not using the downtown area, but I don't really play with the supernatural creatures anyway......I haven't given up on trying to at least salvage the character files......if I can get them I will just add my Crystal Bay folks to LaQuest Beach........

  1. Well that's good news! I'm still sorry about CB. But at least you know what caused it to go bad. Yeah, on my desktop it takes about two minutes after I'm returned to my desktop for the game to fully shut down. On my old laptop it took about five minutes. So this is good news to know what!

Glad LaQest Beach is coming along nicely. I hope we get pictures soon. ;)

  3. I'm glad you figured it out. My game normally shuts down straight away but there have been a couple of times when it hasn't. I'll know not to try shutting down the computer when it does that now!

LaQuest Beach sounds fantastic and I hope we can see some pics soon!

BTW, if you ever *want* to add a subhood to LQB, add a shopping village (OFB). If you add a custom one, it doesn't add any townies at all. :) I wish I'd thought of it while creating Sullivan because I have those stupid vampires in my hood.

  4. I'm so glad you found out what caused it!
I'm sad to see Crystal bay go, but I'm happy LaQuest Beach is comming along so good, and I hope you decide on blogging about it, because I'm really curious how it looks!

  5. Thanks guys!
Carla - thanks for the tip! I really have no need for the vampires since I don't use them in my game!
And I'm already itching to blog about LaQuest Beach! I've put more time in it's construction than I did with Crystal Bay and I really like the outcome. With the housing and downtown areas on the same map, it really looks very good! And some of the families I created are starting off pretty well off and some of them are dirt poor! I also installed the slim boby builder meshes so theres a couple of buff sims in my game now too lol.....I'm going to post a pic of the hood probably this evening some time......

  6. Glad you were able to find a reason for the corruption. It's a good tip, I could have easily done the same thing when I was on my laptop, just switched to a PC this August.

I'm looking forward to your new hood and seeing the layout. I did mine with everything on one map too and love how it looks.

  7. I can't wait to see pictures of LaQuest Beach!!
Maybe I should have some more planning before starting SimsVille, but I like the hood anyway. For Upper SimsVille I took my time, and now I'm working on another district for SimsVille, DimSimTown Island, and there I'm planning also to combine.

  8. Tanja - SimsVille looks great! And we had the same map, that's the map I used for Crystal Bay! I had my bigger houses on the big hill to the left! Kinda like they were looking down on the poor sims lol
